Whiskers is my go-to pet food & supply store for my cats (and my friend's dog). Their knowledgeable and friendly staff always get us the food and supplements we need. And Joseph offers excellent advice for pets with special digestive needs. Whiskers offers delivery and loyalty points for frequent orders. I am very loyal, indeed.
I have been to many pet stores in the past two months and this is ,by far ,the best one in NYC and Brooklyn . The staff were super helpful and kind. My cat's issue has been resolved for now. When I took my cat to the vet after visiting Whiskers , I showed the vet the two products i bought from Whiskers, and told the vet what food they had suggested , and the vet was pleased, (she has always been a supporter of holistic approach to pet care). My cat is pleased too. I love this pet store. thank you Whiskers!
The most amazing sanctuary for animals. Joseph has been so amazing to me and my pup when he came down with some health issues. He is the animal healer. I love this store and love the fact that everything they sell is good for our fur babies with no nonsense ingredients. Quick shipping and great customer service. I ordered cat food and it arrived on time; however it was not the flavor I ordered. I emailed Whiskers Holistic customer service and Lawrence quickly responded, apologized, and said he would follow up with vendor. It turned out the flavor was discontinued and the vendor substituted the new flavor. Lawrence emailed me a return shipping label and also called me to share details from the vendor. I was provided a refund from Whiskers Holistic and they updated their website for the discontinued item. So although I could not get the food I wanted (due to being discontinued), Whiskers did an overall great job with shipping timeliness, customer support, and issue resolution
This pet store is simply the best!! The staff are not only kind but also so knowledgeable about all things animals. Definitely go here !
This place is bustling. I would suggest visiting when you are not in a rush, as the store is small and packed to the gills with many options of pet foods, for all types of pets. The staff is busy so patience is key. Once someone can help you, they are knowledgeable and informative. If you have a picky pet like me I suggest taking them here for a great pet and parent day out. Definitely my preferred pet shop when in the city.
Whiskers Holistic Pet Store offers so many arrays of organic pet food--even gluten free and very gourmet human grade pet food. I love that they add new brands (and maintain hard to find organic brands) so my Mr. Kitty has an array of choices for his discerning palate. One of my cat's current favorite new items, which I can only get at Whiskers, is Weruva cat food. Weruva is a brand of human grade cat food where chicken pot pie actually looks and smells like chicken pot pie. Whiskers now has it stock.
They also offer a membership program, where you keep buying and buying and points are added to your account. I usually accumulate my points until I have about $10 worth of points I can use for purchases.
It's worth it and the people are genuinely helpful. It isn't like going to the 86th Street Pet Smart and being treated to grunts and a huge attitude simply for showing up on the check-out line (and God Forbid you actually ask them a question, they'll simply roll their eyes, smirk at you, and ignore you).
Hello everyone! I'm so happy I went online and found Whiskers Holistic. Joe helped with my furry baby Hercules. I called with last hopes and this was the best call I ever did. A few weeks before I came in to see you a vet told me my cat needed to be euthanized because she was in renal failure. Instead, I took her home and began to give her subcutaneous fluids which picked her up some. After coming in and talking to you (Whiskers) I began to give her RenAvast. Almost immediately I saw significant improvement. She is eating much better and more active. I cannot thank you enough. I will be telling everyone I know about you and this product.
I am writing you and your wonderful staff to say THANK YOU for restoring my dog 'Coco-Chanel' back to good health. ... the doctors all told me there was NO CURE for her allergies, she is allergic to everything! If anyone would have told me seven months ago when my dog was at her worst that all you have to do is CHANGE HER DIET to raw foods and add some supplements, I would have laughed at their naivete. How could anyone possibly cure a dog by diet alone and not use all kinds of drugs. I now have a perfectly healthy dog that is on NO MEDICATION, does not shed, never touches her paws or rubs her face, no more ear infections and for eight years old, acts like a young, energetic dog once again. I can not thank you and your staff enough for the countless LONG conversations, your amazing patience and more importantly your superior knowledge regarding animal health. As you know we visit New York every September on our annual holiday. It is not easy to convey the "miracle" you worked for our Golden, Kellie and thereby for us. When we left Ireland for holiday we left in low spirits. Kellie had reached a point with arthritis where she could hardly move her back legs and she had to be lifted up to get on them. She was only 9 years old. Towards the end of our visit we were walking towards Tompkins Square Park when we happened to see your shop sign. We decided we had nothing to lose and would try anything for Kellie. Two and half hours later - after much skepticism and questioning on our part, explanation and patience on yours, we left with a programme and supplies for Kellie and headed home to Ireland with hope. At home we followed your programme precisely. The transformation over the next few months was spectacular. Kellie became her age again. It had to be seen to be believed. And friends who had seen her state just months before remarked on the change... the reaction of non-dog people is the best testimony I can convey about the Whiskers programme. The arrival of our regular orders, always shipping on time, is an event for celebration by all of us. Ongoing adjustments made following phone consultations continues to ensure Kellie has a "dogs life" and we have Kellie. For that we can only say thank you so much.

The owners are incredibly knowing about holistic petcare, and very generous with that knowledge. They have an amazing selection of byproducts-free (pet) food. And they deliver--even to Brooklyn!

We came here after hearing a cousin tell us her success story with her dog's arthritis pain. Her story was nothing short of a miracle, so we came in expecting a great store. Our expectations were exceeded. When our cats get sick, this is the first place we go. The staff members here give amazing advice and will be honest with you about when the vet is your only option. They know a lot about the products, food and local vets in the area...
This place is a hidden gem! I usually get food and accessories for my cat at other big chains in Manhattan as well as "niche" boutiques with hard to find items. However, I live in Astoria and stumbled upon the Whiskers website. I was thrilled to see that this store carries all of the hard to find brands of cat food such as Ziwipeak, Applaws, and Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Frozen bits! I must say that aside from the plethora of cat food, toys and accessories, the customer service is first-rate as well...
